Dream-Yo Lion

i was away for a while to HongKong, and when i'm back i got a notice to collect a small package.
i saw the sender, and i was looking forward to it, because it was late at night, the post office was already close, and i could only collect it the next day.
long queue, long wait in the morning, and my turn, i open the package and this is what i got!
Lion from Dream-Yo.
what comes with it?
the sample i got is a Red/Silver combination.
the yoyo itself comes with white silicone pads, but there's a pair of spare yellow pads, and string of course. more pictures...
first impression, it feels huge. i actually went telling everyone who tried it that its slightly oversized, but when i went to check the earlier posts(here and here) about the Dream-Yo Lion, its a regular size.
and heavy, very rim weighted. it feels a little bulky, a little huge, a little like Positron from Turning Point but its just me. this yoyo has a pretty huge gap, and many people who've tried it likes it.
yoyos out of HongKong, TaiWan and China makers now adays are really reaching a higher standard, this yoyo is really pretty good. the Lion comes with a flat bearing, it handles everything i throw, its alot better than the older Wing, after playing with this, i actually look forward to trying the new Wing.
the anodised coating allows it to grind pretty well. the wide gap lets player capture hits easily, and the thick rim with concentrated weight lets the yoyo spins, long.
flops were pretty stable, lacerations are no problem, its very very unresponsive but the bind is tight. not floaty. random combos feels good. but i personally like to add that, this yoyo needs a lower angle to regen, but its just me.
overall a pretty good yoyo!
do ask to try out the yoyo if you see me.
as there's many sample yoyos around, i now only bring along the newer ones, if you guys wants to try any of the older samples, do tag on the board i'll try to bring them too.

Dream-Yo Pixy

Dream-Yo sent me this.
an undersized, mini yoyo, ala flea, but large bearing!
reminds me of one.
opening up....
now to size comparison to a 07 888, i was thinking why didn't i take a shot of it next to a flea...
i should take one soon, but mine is a old Flea, not the 2010 one. but yea, its just to compare the size. will take one soon alright...
for now, here's one with 07 888.
so... this thing needs a little getting used to.
feels heavy for its size. pretty long spin after breaking in, and once got used to throw.
spins long enough to complete simple combo, or even complex combo if you have good controls, National Champion Christopher Chia did lotsa combos with it. i was wowed.
front throw's hard to control, for me atleast, it goes out~
trapeze throw's alright, once u get the angle right, its nice, its so much more easier to get used to compared to front throw. i personally feel its due to its large bearing, a tad bit too large for the yoyo's size? its a working yoyo, but i feel the bearing size and the yoyo halves size should be proportionate. i feel if the bearing is slightly smaller, say, hspin size? or even duncan size, it'll probably have a more normal throw.
i try to do a few things with it, flop, it works, grinds, it works, i just did finger grinds though, no arm, no palm. palm shouldn't be a problem?
lacerations, normal and counter, both's fine.
regens are hard for me. it does regen, but to me, it feels like i'm not controlling it, it just comes back and goes out. front style to side style regens, the yoyos goes down, due to weight. protrusion wonder, thumbmount wonder? yea i guess so, i suck at both, but i manage to do a little of both, but of course... its mini!!!
this is definitely not a competition yoyo, its meant to be a pocket yoyo, even smaller than a Dingo, for sure, its already smaller than a 888. one thing "positive" about this yoyo is it accept normal strings, rather thn specially made thin string like YYF Flea's. so if you wanna try something very small, playable, this is worth considering getting, but i think its bigger than the Flea though. price... sorry, no idea yet? i'll post it together with the Pixy/Flea comparison photo when i get the price. hopefully video soon~

Dream Yo Wing

Dream Yo Wing, posted in mid Jan this year, is ready for production.
Dream Yo is 1/3 of K2J, maker of the Warning Line yoyo.
over here is a sample i got. funny it look less solid in its anodised form.
first look and it reminds me of the One Drop M1. probably because of the rims.
this yoyo has a stepped wall. similar to most of the YY:R and Leviathan series.
first hold, light. although the rims look thick on the profile view, it feels like the weight, instead of concentrated on the rim, is more on the center, somewhere between the hub and the rim. but i guess u can insert custom weight rings into it, looks pretty spacious to me.
a slightly undersized yoyo. grind's alright.
plays fast, i wouldn't say its got great stability, but its not too bad.
flops' alright, slacks fine. i really gotta say its fast?
overall a fun yoyo, probably not what everyone would make a main yoyo, but to quote what Alan from HK mention, China yoyo = light and fast. that's probably why its weight distribution's like that.
pictures.... and video soon!
ask for me if u wanna try it at meetings guys.
